Love is in the air!

Ok, here is the man with the mustache ATC for this week's challenge. I noticed I had lots of photos of men from my photo sheets (from artchixstudio.com) because I had used all the women photos for collages!! This helped to stretch me a bit - thanks TMTA challenge.

TMTA

I'm going now to find a photo of a man with a mustache or beard for Think Monday, Think ATC. The only problem is I will find the photo on Monday, however it will be Think Monday, Complete Tuesday (oops - procrastination got the better of me tonight).

Leaving the City Behind

As we headed out of town, a swing by Starbucks and last minute photos of city memorabilia. Bye to the city:(

City Attraction

I couldn't help, but take a picture of this adorable book store with a cafe attached. This is what I miss, a book store with charm. A place you could actually lose yourself in and feel comforted. Nice to be in the city again.

Ahhh, Final Destination!

We arrived hours later in ABQ for MAMA MIA, the theater production. It was wonderful, if you ever have a chance to see the show (worth a drive), go. LOVED IT!!

The Road to Albuquerque

Driving, Driving, and More Driving to Get To ABQ. I knew it would be worthwhile, once we arrived at our destination.

Travel Journal

I recently reconnected with one of my closest friends (disconnected due to life taking us in different directions literally). I was so thrilled to hear from her. She asked me if I would be interested in swapping a travel journal (she said she was reading the magazine, Real Simple, and it was one of the ideas listed in how to stay connected). I, of course, loved the idea. I hope she doesn't think I'm crazy when she receives this non-traditional, homemade travel journal.

The book is one of Tim Holtz, as well as the letters, the key, and I used his distress inks. If you love mixed-media art, look him up. He is one of my favorites.

DREAM

Listening to my daughter dream about the future. I love hearing her creative thoughts and ideas. I'm so glad she has learned to DREAM BIG.

The collage is one of my old ones that I made for a round robin. The wings are stamps by inkadinkado company. The vintage image is from artchixstudio.com.

TMTA: Comic Theme

OK, so I might have stretched out of the theme. I kept looking through google images and trying to pick a superhero, but none came to mind. So I thought what would I want in a superhero? This is what I came up with - all heart, wings, bright light - a kind, gentle person with superhero qualities (flight and light like a fire fly).

The image is from www.zettiology.com. I altered the image with paint and markers. Love this challenge: Link is on the side of my blog: Think Monday, Think ATC

Ready for TMTA

I don't know if you can see in this picture, but on my art desk is prepped ATCs for tomorrow's TMTA challenge. Looking forward to finding out the theme (this is my one thing to look forward to on Monday:)

Home Sweet Home

It was a gorgeous day here, sunny & warm. We ate pizza outside on the patio. The restaurant is appropriately named, Pizza Patio. I love the red telephone booth on the patio. It reminds me of Bagel Central in Bangor, ME. The telephone booth at Bagel Central is enclosed within the cafe. I always loved sitting inside, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, and appreciating the antique telephone booth. A little reminder of home today.

Visual Journal Entry: Time

I went to the movies yesterday to see, The Reader, with Kate Winslet (won an oscar for her performance). I kept thinking about the movie all day. I waited the whole movie for some positive message or something healing to occur from all the trauma (I was sorely disappointed). If you like to analyze movies and discuss it among your friends - its a good one to go see. I think I'll stick to a chick flick next time:)

Lyrics ATC

This is my first time posting an ATC for the website, www.tmta.com, found on my list of blog links. This week's theme is favorite lyrics, poem, etc. I already had created this ATC that I never mailed. It is the song, Granpa tell me bout the Good Ole Days, by Wynonna Judd.

Hard Work

My journal page from today. It was one of those Mondays that I counted down the minutes until the end of the day. It felt so good to work in the art room (not always possible during the week). One of my friends told me that she always makes certain that she has one thing to look forward to, each day. Here is to creating something to look forward to, even on a Monday:)

Journal Page

This is my journal page that took all of 20 minutes. I used black gesso for the page and a white paint marker for the writing. The middle image is a stamp from Paperbag Studio (www.paperbagstudios.com) and the word stamp, DREAM, is from Vap! scrap (I added the S). I loved the look of the black and white background. My daughter looked briefly at the journal page and said it looked depressing. But I still think it turned out better than my 2-3 hour canvas collage:) All in all, a great day in the art room.

The Journey

I worked for about two hours on this collage and wasn't satisfied with the outcome, but decided to post it anyways. My journal page took 20 minutes and I loved it. The ones that come naturally seem to be the best ones. I guess it's all part of the journey:)

Saturday

On a road trip, wearing jeans, enjoying Starbucks, and reading old issues of the Art Blogging Magazine from Somerset Studio. Ahh, Saturdays. . . .
